Our Values

Starting from conception our society disenfranchises parents. From day one we are led to believe we aren't good enough, we need intervention, and we should rely on the system. It's not only common, but expected to send your kids off to daycare, throw them in public school, and trust that other people can raise your child better than you can. But learning is not a one size fits all, and this system fails our kids in what matters most: connection.

Here at Acreage Learning we believe that parents are the very first teachers. Before your child is reading and writing they are learning how to navigate their world through you, their mom and dad. This starts with mirror neurons as an infant, and grows into the secure attachment they feel around you that allows a child to feel safe to test the limits of what they understand. Children are more willing to ask questions, make mistakes, and persevere through challenges when a parent is present. Parents know their child's strengths, temperaments and struggles in a way no institution can ever fully understand. And in today's society when a kid begins to struggle, they are often invalidated and swept under the rug for the sake of a passing majority. No one cares more about your kid's success than you.

This is why parents are the best teachers.

But this invalidation is generational. And we at Acreage Learning don't just want to empower your kids, but YOU as well. If you grew up in a system that caused you to believe "I was never that good at science, so how could I ever teach my kid?", that's where we step in. Our curriculum takes highly complex, real-life engineering concepts and breaks them down into understandable and teachable lessons. Our in person and online classes always offer a take home activity so that the learning doesn't have to stop when they step out of the classroom.

At Acreage Learning we believe highly educated kids with strong family values are the future of our generation. We aren't a company that will help make the best test-takers. We can't help you with your SAT's, and we don't really care what your grades are. We believe in mastery of a subject through learning that feels FUN.
